On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, a delegation from the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS), led by the HOU Strategy, Mr. Olajide Aina, paid a visit to the NBA, Ilorin Branch. Accompanying him were staff from the Corporate Planning Department. The delegation was warmly received by the NBA Ilorin Branch Chairman, Mr. S.M.H. Kosemani, alongside the Branch Treasurer, Mrs. Nagode.
The purpose of the visit was to seek collaboration with the NBA in organising a workshop focusing on the importance of the stamp duties on legal agreements and withholding tax—not directly from the NBA members, but from their clients.
In his remarks, the NBA Chairman welcomed the KWIRS team and described the visit as a timely and strategic engagement. He emphasised that both the NBA and KWIRS have significant roles to play in ensuring tax compliance, particularly on the demand for personal income tax from lawyers. He said there is a need to amend the law in respect of the Power of Attorney as a registrable instrument.
Furthermore, he voiced dissatisfaction over KWIRS' lack of response to a formal letter the NBA had previously sent seeking support for its annual dinner event.
Responding on behalf of KWIRS, Mr. Olajide Aina appreciated the NBA’s hospitality and affirmed KWIRS’ readiness to collaborate with the Association. He proposed the organization of a joint seminar and assured a productive and enduring partnership between both institutions.
The NBA Treasurer, also spoke, emphasizing the importance of the meeting. She reiterated the value of advanced communication to ensure broader participation from NBA executives.
